Harries fires back at Gaza protesters at rally, Harris says, “If you want Donald Trump to win, then say that.”

The Democratic presidential contender, Vice President Kamala Harris Harries fires back at Gaza protesters, retaliated against pro-Palestinian demonstrators who disrupted her address at a Detroit campaign rally on Wednesday night, criticizing Israel’s conflict in Gaza.

“What do you know? Say that you want Donald Trump to win. With a long gaze, Harris responded, “Otherwise, I’m speaking,” eliciting tremendous applause from the audience before cries of, “Not going back!”

The interaction served as a reminder of the Democratic Party’s persistent differences about the Middle East conflict, which would be difficult for Harris to overcome in her contest against the Republican nominee, former President Donald Trump.

About halfway through the vice president’s speech, a group of demonstrators stopped Harris, saying, “Kamala, Kamala, you can’t hide! They yelled, “We won’t vote for genocide.”

Harris first said, “I’m here because I believe in democracy.”

In response, Harris first said, “I’m here because I believe in democracy.” Everybody’s voice important, in my opinion. But I’m going to talk now. I’m speaking right now.” However, the disruptions persisted when Harris attempted to talk about the implications of a second Trump administration.

At the Harris rally, which drew over 15,000 supporters, Air Force Two was visible in the background of an airfield hangar in Detroit. This kind of campaign backdrop has been standard for Trump over his three presidential campaigns.

This week, as Harris and her new running partner, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, embark on a multi-state blitz, it was the most well-attended event the campaign has yet had.

Protesters have often accompanied President Joe Biden to his public appearances this year, but for Harris—who entered the race after Biden withdrew—the demonstrations have not been as frequent.

After Hamas’ Oct. 7, 2023 attack on Israel, a sizable Arab American and Muslim community in Dearborn, Michigan, west of Detroit, denounced the Biden administration’s backing for Israel’s battle against the terrorist organization.

Due to their disagreement with Biden’s stance on Israel’s Gaza War, the majority of Dearborn primary voters (57%), in Michigan’s Democratic primary in February, selected “uncommitted” over the senator.

With fifteen electoral votes at stake, Michigan is a crucial battleground state that Biden won in 2020 to defeat Trump in the presidential election.

While Harris and Biden have continued to support Israel unwaveringly

While Harris and Biden have continued to support Israel unwaveringly, Harris spearheaded the administration’s condemnation of Israel about the quantity of Palestinian fatalities in Gaza. Harris declared in December of last year that “too many innocent Palestinians have been killed.” “The extent of suffering experienced by civilians, along with the video and image reports from Gaza, are heartbreaking.”

Reporters were informed by Harris last month, “We cannot allow ourselves to become numb to the suffering, and I will not be silent.”
