Scotty McCreery leaves the stage after witnessing a man strike a woman in the crowd.
“Is she okay?”: Scotty McCreery leaves the stage after witnessing a man strike a woman in the crowd.
Over the weekend, country music artist Scotty McCreery leaves the stage at the Colorado State Fair after witnessing what appeared to be a guy abusing a woman in the audience.
A video of the North Carolina-born star stopping the act for over two minutes during the beginning of his Grammy Award-winning song “It Matters To Her” has gone viral on social media. The crowd helps the authorities step in and intervene.
The crowd lets out a loud scream as McCreery, 30, remarks, “Right here, that’s a lady you just hit, sir.” “Definitely not, you just struck the woman.” Officers? Safety? Is she alright? Leave this place immediately.
“Upon God’s verdant planet. When Scotty McCreery performs? The singer called out the accused attacker on stage, asking, “What are you doing?” “You guys told the police who struck the woman.” That is totally inappropriate.
A individual who is eventually being led out is being pointed to by people in the front of the crowd.
Officials at the Colorado State Fair: “The performer stopped the show.”
Officials from Colorado State Fair told USA TODAY that the attack happened during the singer’s performance.
The man’s name and whether or not he was apprehended have not been disclosed by officials.
Olga Robak, the director of communications for The Colorado Department of Agriculture, stated, “We can confirm that an incident took place at the Scotty McCreery concert where a man assaulted a woman and the performer stopped the show.” She also added that security from The Colorado State Fair helped with crowd control. “We are unable to comment further at this time as this incident is still being investigated.”
USA TODAY has contacted the spokesperson for McCreery.
It took some time for more information regarding the incident to surface.
From American Idol to a celebrated country music artist
McCreery won the tenth season of American Idol at the age of 17.
In 2018, McCreery tied the knot with his lifelong partner, paediatric cardiac nurse Gabi Dugal of Duke University Hospital. The pair got together in Garner, North Carolina, kindergarten.
The star’s other country chart-topper songs are “Five More Minutes” and “In Between,” and his fifth studio album, “Same Truck,” which was released last year, produced the George Strait tribute song “Damn Strait,” according to The Tennessean, a division of USA TODAY Network.
The song “It Matters To Her” was a 2024 CMT Music Awards nominee for Digital First Performance of the Year. The category went to McCreery.
