Tesla Company Profile – Overview

Elon Musk is the CEO and co-founder of The Boring Company, Tesla, SpaceX, and Neuralink.

As a co-founder and CEO of Tesla, Elon oversees the engineering, design, and global production of all of the company’s solar energy, battery, and electric car products.

Accelerating the global switch to sustainable energy has been Tesla’s goal since the company’s founding in 2003. The Model S sedan was released in 2012, the Model X SUV was released in 2015, and the Roadster sports vehicle made its debut in 2008 as the company’s first product. In addition to being awarded the Ultimate Car of the Year by Motor Trend and Consumer Reports’ Best Overall Car, the Model X was the first SUV to ever get five stars for safety in every category and subcategory of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s testing. During 2017

2019 saw Tesla unveil the Model Y compact SUV, which will start receiving orders in early 2020, and the Cybertruck, which will be more functional than a traditional truck and more sporty than a sports car. Tesla also started deliveries of the Model 3, a mass-market electric vehicle with a range of more than 320 miles, and the Tesla Semi, which is intended to save owners at least $200,000 over a million miles based on fuel costs alone.

In addition, Tesla manufactures three energy storage devices: the Megapack, intended for utility-scale deployments, the Powerwall residential battery, and the Powerpack commercial battery. After acquiring SolarCity, the top US supplier of solar power systems, in 2016, Tesla became the first vertically integrated sustainable energy firm. In 2017, the company unveiled Solar Roof, an attractive and reasonably priced energy producing device.

Elon supervises the development of rockets and spacecraft for trips to Earth orbit and eventually other planets as principal designer at SpaceX. The first privately built liquid fuel rocket to reach orbit was the SpaceX Falcon 1, which launched in 2008; in 2017, the company achieved even more history when it successfully re-launched a Falcon 9 rocket with a Dragon spacecraft. Subsequently, in 2018, Falcon Heavy—the world’s most potent rocket in operation—completed its first flight. The first crew-capable Dragon spacecraft demonstration trip was successfully accomplished in 2019 by SpaceX, and in 2020 the corporation will launch NASA humans to the International Space Station. Expanding upon these successes, SpaceX is creating Starship- By inventing reusable rockets, SpaceX is pursuing the long-term goal of making humans a multi-planet species by creating a self-sustaining city on Mars. Elon is also CEO of Neuralink, which is developing ultra-high bandwidth brain-machine interfaces to connect the human brain to computers. A fully reusable transportation system that will carry crew and cargo to the Moon, Mars, and beyond. Starlink, which will deliver high speed broadband internet to locations where access has been unreliable, expensive, or completely unavailable.

Energy Generation and Storage and Automotive are the company’s two operating segments. The design, research, production, and retailing of electric vehicles are all included in the automotive segment. The design, production, installation, leasing, selling, and buying of solar energy systems and stationary energy storage products, as well as the selling of power produced by these systems to consumers, are all included in the Energy Generation and Storage section. It creates energy storage solutions for usage in residential buildings, business establishments, and utility sites. Founded on July 1, 2003, by Marc Tarpenning, Elon Reeve Musk, Martin Eberhard, and Jeffrey B. Straubel, the company is based in Palo Alto, California.

Additionally, he founded The Boring Company, which aims to relieve excruciating urban traffic and allow high-speed, long-distance travel by fusing quick, reasonably priced tunneling technology with an all-electric public transit system. The Boring Company is currently building Vegas Loop, a public transit system at the Las Vegas Convention Center, in addition to building a 1.15 mile R&D tunnel in Hawthorne.

Prior to this, Elon co-founded and sold Zip2, one of the first online map and directions services, and PayPal, the most popular online payment system in the world.
